I love water reflections and the perspective of distance so I conjoined the two with a beautiful scenery.

Did you know that the name Whittington village is on Mars at the moment.
I am working on data from Mars for Cardiff University and have access to all the RAW data coming from Mars which I am processing.
When the Perseverance rover was being launched to Mars I had the name Whittington Shropshire put onto the name chip attached to the probe.
I have included a picture of the Rover LIVE from Mars, this is the one our village is on.

It may or may not be relevant to the reopening of Whittington as the theme but a cool aerial shot I took (my Dad was flying) with the castle in the centre, definitely looking like a place I want to get back to (if not just to try all the cakes on the castle cafe’s menu)
Its always fun for people to try and spot their house!

Newly arrived male swan now named Sir Tom and his bride Lady Beatrice!

The swans are such a core part of the community and it’s wonderful to see them back as the weather is warming up, everything looks green and lush and we are slowly coming out of lockdown, and of course Whittington is reopening – a real symbol of hope and renewal.

This picture reminds me of happy childhood days .playing in the fields and around the castle. With my siblings. The Stream seemed so big then.with
a jam jar with string for a rod.A bottle of water .jam butties and second hand bikes way too big for us!.Glorious days.Im lucky enough to walk this path several times a week .Still loving living in the Village and all it offers …

Two volunteers gearing up to coming back to help at Whittington Castle

This photo of Beatrice was taken the day before her new mate arrived we now know as Sir Tom She is going to welcome him with open arms or wings.

It was such a lovely day and so nice to have a sense of normality returning, good to hear the children playing and laughing.

On a glorious sunny day Sir Tom with Lady Beatrice.

What inspired you to take this photograph? Good to see things slowly returning to the new normal on such a glorious sunny day, picnic tables out everyone chilling out.

I saw a weird angle and loved it.

I love the stark contrast in colour of the grass and the swan.

this swan looks utterly in love.

Here is an entry for the competition. My dog Jude was smiling with joy, to have a welcoming cool dip this morning. I hadn’t seen my grandchildren for 12 months, their parents brought them to the Castle today to meet up with my dog and I.

Hi, here is my other entry, my 9 year old Granddaughter Afiya, was literally jumping for joy today.

deep in thought along a castle wall .

Lulabelle aged 12 years on her visit to the castle yesterday (Sunday 25th April). We really enjoyed our visit after not being for such a long time. Lulabelle was joined by the rest of our chihuahua pack (4 of them in total) and they had a lovely day mooching round the bootsale and castle grounds. We had a little picnic from the tearoom, spotted the tadpoles, saw Sir Tom and Lady Beatrice and had the perfect weather to enjoy the day! 🙂

Hello all. So enjoyed our visit to the castle yesterday as it’s been so long since we last was there. Here is a photo you may like to put on along with the others.

One of the resident doves at Whittington Castle

A photo of Whittington Castle taken in the early morning showing the reflection in the moat. An opportunity to reflect on the past year while welcoming people back as we open up again.

The welcoming sign of an open door as we see light at the end of the tunnel.

Enjoying the lovely weather and watching the birds and families around us! Lovely to feel everything coming alive again!

The beauty of the birds in flight on a lovely spring day! Also thought you could make a humorous caption too!

the peaceful welcoming tranquility with beautiful views of Whittington!

A beautiful spring like welcome to the castle!

he welcoming open gates of the castle that greet animals and people 😀!

My 5year old daughter excitingly running
Into the castle, memories to behold 💖

He said he thinks it fits the theme as its the 1st time we have been back to the castle since the 2nd lockdown
‘A view from the top’

We love this castle and take friends there. Took these a while ago when weather was better. Concentrated on the arrow slits and history.

. It is a picture of my daughter, son in law and granddaughter on there first visit to see us since lockdown. We fed the ducks and enjoyed tea and cake at the castle

My granddaughter Sienna, who thoroughly enjoyed the Whittington Castle experience. The photos are from an album entitled “Sienna’s Big Day Out”, and show that you are never too young to appreciate the beauty and legacy of one of Shropshire’s historical treasures. They are a reminder that life will return to normal after the pandemic, and that this time is drawing nearer with every hour of every day.
