A number of visitors have been asking for news of our parent swans now that their offspring are venturing out on their own. For those of you who don’t know their names we have Beatrice (pen) and Benedict (cob). It’s quite usual for Beatrice and Benedict to disappear from the moat at this time of the year, although Beatrice and two of her cygnets have been spotted on the moat over the last few weeks. There is no sign of Benedict yet but he may just be further up the river (please let us know if you see him). They will come and go throughout the autumn and winter and hopefully return in the early spring ready to raise another family. They usually mate around Valentine’s Day in February – how romantic!
