Whittling away the hours by Jemma Graves “My husband Dyfan is a very creative person, especially when it comes to woodwork. The lockdowns have given him time to use his creativity more – in the picture, he made the bench and the coffee table, as well as the chessboard and chess pieces he is finishing whittling out of fig tree branches from our garden. On the day this picture was taken, it was a very wet Valentine’s Day afternoon. After a hard week, I encouraged him to go outside to whittle away at his chess pieces, to enjoy the crisp fresh air, our roaring fire pit, and the rain pouring on our veranda roof. I was inspired to take this picture on this day, because as I sat by the fire, I could see him slowly unwind and relax with every stroke of his knife. For me this picture also captures everything good about this difficult lockdown period for us.” Look Up by Jemma Graves “This picture was taken on a beautiful day in May, my husband and I love to walk in our local woodland. I really enjoy taking my camera out, slowing down, and experimenting to see what I can capture. I loved how the sun was shining through the leaves in the canopy of the trees; the woodland is really beautiful all around us but there is more to be found if we just look up.” Scarlet Lady by J Sheffield Another hobby of mine is Photography this lady bird was taken in my garden back in the summer. I was trying out Macro photography. It’s a dogs life by J Adger I took this photograph on my last holiday in Marmaris, Turkey. It was evening time, the dog was taking a nap on a sunbed , he belonged to the owner of the restaurant close by, where he waits for him to finish work. I think the title sums it up. The Delights of Spring by B Bowyer There are two hobbies here – photography and flower arranging. Flower arranging is something that many people enjoy and clubs are popular all over the country. With lockdown, many people have been denied the pleasure of attending their clubs regular meetings. I know many people have suffered from the lack of interaction and pleasure that these clubs bring. My good friend Sionedd, who arranged these flowers, has been doing free online demonstrations during lockdown, trying to keep people connected during these trying times. I am a beginner photographer and, between us, we’re trying to pass on a little bit of joy and hope with the photos of these beautiful spring flowers. The Dreamer by Millie Watkin Age 9 I was playing photo shoots with my sister Ffion in lockdown and she was my model. I took different photos of her. This one was because she is always daydreaming and likes magical things. She was lying on the ground and I put her hair out all around her and asked her to dream. I think she looks like something out of a fairy tale or legend. sooo cozee! by Millie Watkin age 9 I like my pets and taking photos of them. We had fun taking these because the guineas won’t stay still. So Ffion was my assistant setting them in position as I told her and I tried to take their photos. This photo has a brown effect to match the floor and Guinea pigs colours. The Thinker by Millie Watkin age 9 I went for a picnic and my sister was sitting by the lake. It was very quiet there and I wondered what she was thinking about. It was so peaceful there she looked like she was all alone in the world. The photo was in colour but I like the black and white effect because it made Ffion look more lonely. The cat’s whiskers by Millie Watkin age 9 I like taking photos of faces and I love editing photos. This is my cat in black and white.
