PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION AT WHITTINGTON CASTLE

This month our theme is: “Hobbies”
February’s Castle photographic competition will give you a lot of scope as the theme is hobbies.
The Oxford Dictionary’s definition of a hobby is: an activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure. Hobbies include collecting themed items and objects, engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, playing sports, or pursuing other amusements. For many people lockdowns have created time and opportunities to pursue new or existing hobbies.
You might choose to take a photo of finished work or work in progress, the blur of a jogger, back garden sports, armchair cricket, baking delights……Photography is a great hobby too! The possibilities are endless.
For this competition photos can be taken at any location. Above all, have fun!
Prize – Family Membership for 2021 for Whittington Castle plus a certificate for the winners and runners up.
The closing date is 6th March (Judging will take place after 12 noon on this day)
Remember, there are two entry levels: 15 and under, and everyone else.
To enter either e-mail info@whittingtoncastle.co.uk to request details and a form or please Inbox on Facebook. We will need all photo’s to have a title, plus and your name . Also please add a brief explanation of the photo, how it fits with theme and what inspired you as this will help the judge.
Good luck!
Judge – Each month our Judge will be chosen from the local community. This month we have chosen
Ian Johnson – Judge for February 2021
I have lived in Whittington for nearly 33 years. During this time, I have undertaken a variety of roles, which have included Church Warden, a school governor, a Scout leader and more recently a Parish Councillor and the Chairman of the community group Whittington Together.
My children have grown up in Whittington and my wife and I feel very privileged to live in such a beautiful village. We are very proud of our Castle, which, without doubt, is the focal point of the village. We support the Castle by being members and by supporting the working parties called to clean up the castle grounds prior to major events.
The subject of this month’s competition is hobbies. My hobby is sailing which I have done for over 25 years as a member of Shropshire Sailing Club.
It will be great to see the variety of hobbies that you undertake.
Good Luck and I look forward to seeing your photos.
Ian
Good luck and enjoy your photography!
